Tenashus
Out the center of Cali comes an emcee
with one goal lighting the path: CHANGE THE GAME. Tenashus a.k.a
eonfluxx a.k.a. Valaree St. Mary holds this credo most sacred.
Her main objective is this, through hip hop music. The approach
is a formula of raw beats and lyrics to compliment them, plus
a dope live show. She has been writing her own lyrics for a
decade, gaining momentum with Bloe and DJ Epik since 1997 in
Verbatum, and venturing out as a solo artist since 2001. Verbatum
released their first project Sacrafice in September 2000 (FSKO
Recordings), then appeared extensively on The Capital’s
Best Collection (2001, FSKO Recordings). Tenashus did songs
with Blackalicious, Marvaless, FSKO crew, and on a solo song
on the compilation of West Coast artists.
Tenashus’ recent works include an appearance on the new
Blackalicious album Blazing Arrow, and a duet with Luckyiam.psc
on his most recent solo release Justify the Mean$. She has also
collaborated with many other talented artists. She represents
with Sisters of the Underground, an all-female hip hop collective,
at shows since 2001 in L.A. and the Bay Area. This year, she
continues to work on a Verbatum album, which will be released
in July, and completing her solo project Thought Adjustor. She
has also released a limited edition 3-song EP/sampler of the
upcoming album called the triptych.
Tenahsus’ reflective and clever rhymes paired with precise
delivery have some calling her the premier female emcee in California.
She feels a deep sense of responsibility to quality with regard
to music, and keeps this in mind when writing. She is the product
of a broad span of musical influences, from Donny Hathaway,
Prince, and Stevie Wonder to Mobb Deep to Tears for Fears.
