Smalls

Music is her life. She eats, sleeps, and breathes music. Fortunately for Sisterz of the Underground, She is blessed with organization skills, determination, motivation, and many visions. She combined these factors in the creation of Sisterz of the Underground. She’s originally from L.A. and moved to Santa Cruz to attend UCSC. Two years later, She found herself unstimulated and lacking possible opportunities, so she moved to S.F. with a certain direction; She wanted to be involved with the music business somehow. She threw her first Northern California music event in August of 1999 with a partner, under the name of Smokin’ Roach Productions. After this event, she decided that she works the best alone, so she started organizing and investing on music events by herself. At the end of the year 2000, she started having visions of an all female hip hop show and that’s when she decided to hold an event on January 18, 2001 called Sisterz of the Underground. She got her BA at SF State University in Liberal Studies with an arts emphasis. Currently, Smalls is the program director of DEF ED, while continuing to teach breaking and street art when she can. And to top that off, she still manages to find time to be a graffiti artist and break with Extra Credit Cru. They call her Sarah Smalls for a reason. ;)
