JBean

Music has always been the most imporant and constant thing in my life—without question. I was introduced to turntablism in 1997 and on the spot I was hooked. With two garage sale record players, a radio shack mixer and a handful of records, I began experimenting and blending the rhythms of Outkast, A Tribe Called Quest, L.L. Cool J and others. Meeting up with the Sisterz in 2001 brought on a new level of understanding in the art of record playing, as well as an acknowledged vinyl addiction. My collection has expanded to include more females arists ranging from Apani B Fly Emcee and Jean Gray to Jill Scott, Ndea Davenport and Res. I love blending the harmonies of soul jams with the beats of Dre, Hi Tek and the Neptunes. Dancehalls and house parties are my favorite venues to perform at……and I’m a cancer. Plans for the future involve audio production, performance art and a large dancehall colletion. Other favorite artistist include: Azeem, Jonell, Mystic,Pac, Ladybug Mecca, Eve, Dead Prez, Joi, Marvin Gaye, Foxy Brown, Chalka Khan, Raphael Saadiq and the Coup.
